Valuation: Creating Shareholder Value and Marketing Research

McKinsey DCF Valuation Model

The Value Manager

A value manager determining shareholder value is not a mysterious process. It does require, however, a different perspective when calculating the value of a company. Effective executives are required to focus on long-run cash flow returns, not quarter-to-quarter changes in earnings per share. This approach requires a willingness to adopt a dispassionate, value-oriented view of corporate activities that recognizes businesses for what they are—investments in new productive capacity that either earns a return above their opportunity cost of capital or do not.

The Enterprise DCF model values the equity of a company as the value of a company’s operations (the enterprise value that is available to all investors) less the value of debt and other investor claims that are superior to common equity (such as preferred stock). The values of operations and debt are equal to their respective cash flows discounted at rates that reflect the riskiness of these cash flows. The McKinsey DCF valuation model is utilized and validates (Excel Spreadsheets) the true value of a company. A Summary Valuation Report is calculated after entering historical data.

Organizational Culture
Organizational culture is defined as a set of processes that binds together members of an organization based on the shared pattern of basic values, beliefs, and assumptions in an organization.Such expectations or norms specify the ways in which all members of the organization are expected to approach their work. They represent strategies for survival that worked well in the past and members believe will work again in the future. An organizational culture survey can help you identify and measure the cultures that exist in your business today.Traditionally, organizational culture surveys have taken a behavioral approach making it difficult to link the results back to business. This survey enables leaders, key stakeholders and employees to understand the impact their culture has on their organization's performance and learn how to redirect their culture to improve organizational effectiveness. The survey is an effective and efficient method in measuring your organization's culture and its impact upon the bottom line.
